For some odd reason that is normal for MS.
You'd think with all it's money and in theory all the great tallent
they can afford that they'd have a winner right out of the gate.
However time and again starting with their OS it's not been so.
Heck I wonder without IBM's blessing just how well DOS would
have done head to head against the then competition?

MS Word was a dog it's first few revisions compared to the then
competition and if not for the monies coming in from it's OS
dominance thanks in large part to IBM's blesing it would have
fallen flat on it's face and died. Same goes for just about every
application MS introduced Excel vs Lotus...Lotus kicked Excels
blank for serval versions but in the end Lotus did not have the
revenue that MS got from it's OS dominance.

I still think it's strange but hey I can't argue with success.
