What a belly-laugh!!!
"The US college system is one of the best in the world. It is our free/private/religious primary and secondary schools that stink."

It can be. But for far too many, college is the time to binge drink and live it up. As far as private and religious schools stinking - you're not looking at the facts, sir. There's a reason voucher programs are so popular and why the teacher unions fight them so rabidly - they'd lose their jobs in an instant if we let the money flow freely to where the educating was getting done. But don't take my word for it - there are standardized test results available for your viewing pleasure from your school district and/or state.

"The problem we have right now is that most of these workers do not have degrees in science, engineering, or math. They all have business/law degrees, as that is where the money is."

Coulda fooled me. I've got a friend with a PhD in Math...can't find a professorship because there are too many applicants for each opening. And where the money is? Many of us are doing more than fine in engineering, thank you.

"The US taxes on cooperations isn't as high as we are to believe in the press. In fact 17 of the 20 largest US corps pay 0 in taxes."

Who said we were talking about corporations? It'd be nice if they paid their fair share of the load. Instead states and municipalities lower their share to lure them to locate there, and citizens pick up the slack in property taxes. And income, social security, and medicare taxes are beyond ridiculous. We need to ditch half of the government bureaucracies, and keep only the essentials. Every many years, it seems, a nation reaches the point where it needs to dump everything and start from scratch, because those in power don't know how to trim back spending, restrain themselves in use of power, etc. We are fast approaching that point.

"As far as over-regulated... this may be partially true with regards to environmental regulations."

It's hardly just with regards to the environment. This nation is over-burdened with laws, regulations, and licensing and permit requirements. How much did HIPAA implementations cost? How much is SarBox costing? Why do I need to pay for a burning permit? etc. etc. etc. There are many examples beyond environmental ones.

"Labor cost and the fact that if you bribe officials in these foreign countries they will let you dump your toxic waste right into the river, the same river that people drink and bathe in downstream from the factory, is why there is no manufacturing in the US."

Huh? I thought that's why we had illegals here? You mean they're not here as cheap labor for corporations? There's no manufacturing here because we let the executive class load up on options and export the processes in order to inflate profits, spike their share prices and retire with golden parachutes. No accountability for these overpaid schmucks. Who said there was no aristocracy in America? Remember the Bastille.
