The US is not an island, we must be part of the global economy.
And, engineers in Mexico make less than the US right now, but market forces will equalize things over time. Maybe US workers are over paid and wages will come down in the US. So be it.

I think we better focus on offering more value for the buck in the US. Workers had better be well educated. Try contributing to open source projects in your free time to educate yourself on new technologies. Last time I checked, Google (and others) are still hiring the best and the brightest. Better get to improving skills.
