8bit-> 16bit-> 32bit->.... bah, humbug. There are still enough clever engineers out there with a lot more "tricks" to extend x86 a ways yet. Will x86 need to be replaced? yes. Is that day anytime soon? No. Will Cell be the new standard? You have a better chance talking Bill Gates into open sourcing Windows AND Office.
