This can certainly change the face of computing, what will have an enourmous impact is when the PS3 comes out. That will give it a huge testbed to see if the chip is any good. It will also give it a huge advantage as the chip cost will make market entry very low. Also Intel's dual core chip will have to compete with the new entrant.

What will add to this whole spectacle is that there is already high end systems available with Linux on it and this could spur the development on another platform. Although the kernel developers will have to take into account the new technology, the software developers will also have to look at adapting the code for this.

I personally think the high end cluster systems buuilders will take this with interest and AMD will have to be carefull as they are the king in this arena at the moment.
