The invalidation of this patent by the USPTO itself based upon demonstrated known prior art does begin to set a good precident.

There is no good reason why the legal system should be the only avenue of redress for trivial patents or those with demonstrable prior art.

The USPTO has put online its Patent Full-Text and Full-Page Image Databases.

The USPTO should also provide a link on each patent and application entry so that readers can submit instances of prior-art or an argument that patent is not an invention but a discovery.
The submission would then be forwarded to the patent holder. The patent holder should have a fixed period of time to submit a rational why the submission does not invalidate the patent.
