False statement here
"Music downloaded from Apple's iTunes music store is
prevented from playing on non-Apple devices by Apple's digital
rights management technology."

This, of course, is not true. iTunes music can be burned to a CD
in MP3 version or standard CD version and played on any device
that plays a CD, including non-Apple computers.

I also believe that another portable digital player can play iTunes
Music Store material already converted into MP3 format via
burning a CD.

What another brand of digital music player can't do is
automatically sync with iTunes, just like an iPod can't
automatically sync with other brands. Nothing wrong with that,
Windows never automatically synced with anything other than
MS proprietary products.
