There are ways to make it happen captain...
we are a pretty smart species, the only species for that matter that can significantly alter it's environment for survival and comfort. There is plenty of open desert that can be utilized, there are a number of panel arrangements that can be used to maximize the ammount of energy captured, there is the orbital solution as well.

Think outside the box and believe it can be done and it will. Nuclear power is not the answer. It's dirty and dangerous. The potentials for disaster no matter how many safetys we put in place are astronimical. 3-Mile island and Chernobyl come to mind. There have been other minor incidents that could have easily gotten out of control with deadly results. The gain is not worth the risk. Then factor in the waste products and how to dispose of them safely so they do not pose a potential threat to current and future generations.

No renewable and natural energy is the way to go, it makes the most sense economically and environmentally in the long run. What prevents us are the oil moguls that are so greedy that many billions in personal profit is not enough for some odd reason.

Solar can work and does. Some methods are to build structures that utilize the windows as solar arrays and have solar arrays on the roof to augment geo-thermal energy, hydro-electric energy and areo-electric energy. The benefits far outweight the negatives. devil
