Why is the typo-thing wrong?
If someone types "expedai.com" they are clearly looking for expedia and so if Yahoo puts an ad from a travel-related company on that page, they are putting it in front of someone who obviously wants travel. I think the "typosquatter" is pretty lame, but Yahoo is getting the advertiser's message in front of the right audience. If anything it's a better audience, because if you can't spell you might not be that bright and therefore more susceptible to advertising messages.
