There is a link in a post above in response to rafterman. MS has sidestepped this issue by allowing third party plugins. That way it is fairly simple to enable ODF capability on Office and MS can 'keep their hands clean' and not have to touch any of that nasty GPL stuff. They wouldn't want to risk being sued by SCO ... oh no!
