If enough use ODF as the format to exchange documents, might as well bypass
the conversions (and hefty payments to MS), and save directly in ODF. I see increased use of ODF to exchange documents going hand-in-hand with more people using software that saves natively in ODF.

And, large organizations will simultaneously switch to the ODF format along with softare that saves and reads in natively.
