TalkBack 1 of 1:
We were once an agricultural economy... we shifted to manufacturing... then
we shifted to services.

Each time the shift happened, it was said to be of benefit for us. And, so far, that has held up.

All of these shifts took place because the preceeding economies were made cheaper via consolidation and/or offshoring ("outsourcing", a vile word either way).

The difference is, today, nothing has yet to appear that replaces the service economy. The one touted during the late-80s and 90s as being oh-so-great.

So, with nothing to replace the service industry, what are people to do? Starve to death? Some of us are more than game-playing twonks worthy of being only retail store drones, most of which don't bother doing the job properly in the first place...

Or will we become a military economy? Now there's a thought... trouble is, how do the fighting drones be separated from the strategic drones... or are we all to become walking target practice for our enemies, complete with glowing red bullseyes painted on?

Que sera sera. Can't do much else than where the flow takes us.
