It isn't the tools that are the problem, it's the people who use them. For an example of how current technology can be used in a worshipful, useful way for thinking Christians, look at the "ship of fools" site run by the UK Methodists -- www.shipoffools.com

But still, sad to say, the megachurches that are making use of the advanced technology tend to be the mindless ones, whose goal is to make everybody happy for one hour a week. Don't mention sin, or guilt, or the fact that some things may be going on in the world that Christians should do something about -- just talk happy!

More thoughtful churches -- or synagogues, mosques, or what have you -- probably couldn't draw the kinds of crowds that make these tech toys necessary. For that matter, I don't think they would want to be that large -- a church is a community, in which its members worship, laugh and weep together, And care for each other. That isn't going to happen very effectively in a former NBA arena.
