Now if only your article also had inluded the reverse of the above sentence:

"dictate procurement practices that disadvantage open source software"

I would have liked it a lot better. I think a lot of the criticism on your articles stem from this. I realy think you do not "hate" open source. I believe you when you say open source has it's place. It's just that you tend to write defensive articles that portrait proprietary software as something that is in need of protection.

Proprietary software AND open source software can survive if you let market forces work. I might not have to pay for open source software but I sure am going to need support for it if I use it in a company.

I'm a firm beleiever in the fact that there is an evolution in buisiness models and that support and services will be the big winner in this evolution. Once the price of buying proprietary software is no longer a problem in competing with open source (asuming this support/services model prevails) market force will once again determine wich will be the winner or what kind of a balance will exist between the two.
