Dang, Axey. How long has it been since ...
... you and I agreed, 100% on something? Scary, eh?

The way I understand the argument, Berty "Big G, Man" Gonzales sez he wants these records retained because they are critical to the prosecution of the bad guys.

How so? There is NOTHING in those records which you can tie to a specific, flesh-and-blood person. If you walk into a courtroom with some ISP's logs as your primary evidence, you'll be laughed out of court.

What frosts me is the opposing side's contention that because I disagree with this record keeping I am somehow soft on child porn. Nothing could be further from the truth, but what is MORE important to me is responsible parenting.

Parents would not dream of sending their 11-year-old to play, unattended, at a downtown city park surrounded by strip clubs, crack houses and sleazebags wandering the sidewalks. Yet these same parents think nothing of plunking this same kid down in front of a PC attached to the Internet and leaving the room to do chores.

What NEEDS to happen is these parents need to always be present with the kid as they explore the big, bad Internet TOGETHER. (If only because, according to the last numbers I saw, over 80% of the web sites on the Net are pornography related.) That way, the parent can head off the bad guys, and report them, when they appear.

No, stripped of all the smoochy political correctness, this proposal is exposed for what it really is: a way to spy on political opponents.
