What's that $50 plus a month you pay for TV for in the first place. Goes to the cable company to pays the channels for the privledge of delivering them as package. So I'm already paying for those channels. If I want to skip ads I should be allowed to. If they can make a ad interesting enough to keep my attention then I'll watch. Otherwise I'll channel surf or skip the ad.

Also whats wrong with other forms of advertising? Say product placement or banner ads. If I got a 1/2 hour of content with banner running accross the bottom displaying ads I'd be happy with that.

Ads today are useless anyways. Information overload. Too much data coming and all the ads become meaningless noise anyways with no influence on the consumer. Of course there is catch. The second anyone drops advertising the effect for the competitions advertisements improves. So really advertising today is about silencing the compition more than actually advertising. So really does it matter if consumers watch the ads all?
