hardly eloquent, but...
you can use an application like DVDShrink to backup your movie, and while at it, select just the movie to burn so when you throw the disc in the player, the movie starts immediately, no FBI BS, no menu, no commercials.

Of course this is illegal, but also fair-use, so you'll have to let your conscience decide if this is for you.
