Devil's Advocate
I have to admit, I've worked in radio broadcasting off and on for the last twenty-plus years. I have to admit, though, that this kind of technology, though inevitable, is a BAD idea. That doesn't mean they won't utilize it, I just can't imagine the fiscal returns justifying the anger and potential retaliation of the television viewer.

With that said, I must ask, though: How are these shows supposed to get made without the advertising revenue slowly being whittled away by tech like TiVo (or any DVR), "30-second skip"-pers, etc.? I truly hope that everyone here is intelligent enough to know that it takes a LOT of people to make "My Name Is Earl" magically appear on your TV each week.

Everytime any network or media company begins talking about fees for services, many on these boards begin to scream "I WON'T PAY" or "NO FAIR!" or "THIS IS AN INVASION OF PRIVACY!" or, well, you've read 'em. If they're gonna take hell for finding some way to guarantee advertisers that people are watching commercials, catch crap for charging any fee to let you skip said commercials in lieu of watching the ads, then what CAN they do?

I seriously would love to hear some ideas as to how a weekly television show is financed without money?

Flame away...I'm a big boy (and you're probably wrong anyway). LOL

wink
