Gadzooks fellow - think Power Users - think multicore
How many early adopters are power users that will not value faster search and application speeds? These users are going to purchase Intel and AMD multicore business PCs.

Why not configure the machine as an Oracle database file system? Why not virtualize the OS for patch maintenance.

Why not move to Firefox and take advantage of multitreading. A WWW browser is the best example of a multithreaded application I can come up with.

And now the kicker. How many power PC users are not also power phone/ blackburry users. It is pervasive computing that Oracle is pitching with its Jdeveloper tool. The Java Server Faces approach is a thin client approach that means output from the application server and database server can be desplayed on any device. Its all very .Netish. If your a power user that is also a developer your wish list needs to be adapted. Oracle is not as far along as it will be in four months. You have a little bit of time. But this is significant stuff being driven by hardware that Microsoft would prefer not be adopted but is anyway. Almost all the top end PC purchases will be multicore. All the new phone devices will be multicore as well.
