Oracle Linux could be interesting
Though, this would be just like the recent Oracle. "Let's buy and save on development."

If Oracle wants to do this correctly, they should build their own distro from the ground up. They should take some of their developers and gear them towards building a completely custom distro that will allow each to run with a specific purpose in mind.
For starters, they should build a DB Server Linux that is geared strictly at getting the fullest performance out of linux. Very few if any graphical tools, very few applications other than database and security. Build it around using the same threading model they currently use and see just how much power they can get out of their database.

Microsoft would probably be so shocked, they would have to follow suite and release Windows SQL Server Edition.

Next, Oracle needs to work on an Application Server that ties specifically in with their Application Sets. They could release more than one, just as long as each one is keyed towards running applications.

Last, and the grand finally, the Oracle Desktop Linux Suite.

Make a version of Linux desktop that is geared 100% around work place productivity. Go all out for the graphical side of things, but be sure to include all options and local suites to rival Microsoft Windows.
Yet, make the desktop extremely flexible. Come up with a light version for older hardware, and a heavy version for high end computing.

Yes, if done right, Oracle could take the workplace, but they need to build their own distro, not buy some one else's fixer upper.

Novell would be the better target though. Their application stack is a little bigger than Redhat's.
