yeah.. their supposedly high tech security software
will prevent me from getting a virus on my mac. that's exactly what one of their tech people told me when I was trying to get my mom's account cancelled (which was actually cancelled 4 months prior, and I had to call every month to get them to stop billing her), and the "tech" was trying to get me to subscribe. The tech support team is highly underqualified, the majority of them are in India (or whereever they outsourced it to) and not only can you not understand them, but they get pissy with you when you make them repeat themselves.

why on earth anyone would pay $16 a month for the crappy ass chat rooms is beyond me, but their security suite is a farce. The day my mom installed aol on her brand new computer, she managed to pick up 8 "critical" files in about 3 hours. It took me almost 12 hours to get all of AOL's spyware off of her computer, and I still wonder if I got all of it. AOL re-installed portmagic on her computer 3 times during that whole process, and every time was without permission. doesn't that qualify AOL as badware?
