You know it...
With the ridiculous costs of the ticket and concession prices, the
plummeting costs of home theatre systems, and the fact that
most films hit DVD with-in several months... I'm pretty much
done with theaters. I can literally count on one hand, how many
times I've been to the "movies" in the past 5 years. What with
the rudeness of most in society today, be it from the adults or
the teens -- both groups are just as discourteous with their
conversations with those that they came with, or on their damn
cell phones, not too mention those that bring infants and we're
forced to listen to them crying for 2+ hours -- I have little too
no desire to "go out to the movies."

I have a pretty decent home theatre, I buy new movies often at
the cost of less than two tickets, I can make my own snacks at a
percentage of what the concession stand would charge me for a
fraction of the amount that I can make (follow that), I can replay
a scene if I missed something, I get special features, I don't have
to sit through ten minutes of previews of more soon-to-be-
released garbage, and I can pause the darn thing if someone
needs a potty break. Heck, if you don't want to purchase
movies, I know plenty who absolutely love NetFlix or the like.
Personally I haven't ventured that route, but from what I've heard
and know, it's more than a viable option.

That being said and the fact that most movies simply aren't
worth even half of what tickets currently cost, I have absolutely
zero incentive to "go" to the movies. Aside from claiming
initiative on a films viewing over consumer availability, there is
entirely no reason to see a film in the theater. If the theaters
address all of the aformentioned issues and slash the ticket
prices by 50%, I may reconsider stepping foot back into the
cinema -- something tells me that the comfort of my home will
be my winning choice for entertainment venues.
