Bulb Cost
The average bulb costs about $400 CAD, and last about 2500 hours. At 1 movie (2 hrs) per week, plus 4 hrs of other use (I dont recommend wasting the bulb on non HDTV), that's 416.67 weeks, or just over 8 years of use out of one bulb.

Translated another way, 2500 hours / $400 = 16 cents per hour of use - it also means that using my previously mentioned rate of about $50 CAD per movie visit once per week, the bulb is paid off in two months.

I also didn't mention that the new LCD/DLP rear projection HDTVs use the same bulbs that my projector does ... so these TV's have the same extra hidden cost ...

I DO however agree that it will be nice when bulb costs come down ...
