Linux adoption in China. Piracey is a tool that Microsoft uses to keep Linux adoption at bay. Much better having everybody on Windows contributing to the network effect than a large percentage on Linux creating a Linux eco system and breaking down the Windows network effect.
Type 1 Piracy: Those that would never buy Windows / MS Office because of the price, and would use Linux and OpenOffice instead.
Type 2 Piracy: Those that would pay for Windows / MS Office if they had to, but don't because it is easy to pirate.
If type 1 piracy is relatively high in comparison to type 2 piracy, then MS gains from piracy. - Posted by: DonnieBoy Posted on: 04/12/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
