most companies will like the Software 2000.00 Services 0.00
Reasoning is you can depreciate software over a certain amount but can't services.
Most people will say it isn't the same, you get the OS for free you don't have to buy the services. Well you can buy services without buying the software as well, I guarentee you can find those contracts out there.
Basically companies (not talking individuals here) pay for both, no matter the platform. If they pay for the OS they don't have a services/support bill, unless they choose to.
so really it's more like this.
Microsoft (et'al)
OS 2000 Services 2000 (optional)
Open Source
OS - Free Services 4000 (not realistically optional for a company of any size and sometimes (cough "IBM") The services are the lube to a much bigger experience. - Posted by: LinuxHippie Posted on: 04/10/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
