Privacy the Internet, and RFID.
My statement: "Many said this about the internet, too, didn't they?"

Your statement: "No, many did NOT say this. I have no idea where you got this from... Have you been under a rock lately..."

For anyone else reading this, I'll simply respond by addressing this one point by Mr. Sskcat, demonstrate that my opinions did not come out from under a rock, and end my participation in this specific thread.

Many people were, and still are, concerned about privacy and the Internet. That's why, dating back to the 90's, I when I was co-founder and CTO of a company that ran web sites with over 5 million subscribers, my co-founder, Bill Townsend, was the co-author of what became the children's privacy rights in 1998:

http://www.ftc.gov/ogc/coppa1.htm

With millions of users, we were deluged with concerns and questions about privacy, even had AOL's general council on our board of directors to help make sure we were compliant with the government's legislation, and I and my team of 70 developers and product managers spent man-years to ensure we didn't violate our user's privacy in any way. I can tell you first hand that we were assiduous in our efforts, and, I believe, successful.

In addition, so many people are concerned about privacy that organizations like TRUSTe have proven to be very effective as well. You can find out more here:

That said, I agree that there are some who lack integrity who proactively seek to infringe on our privacy, and that is the main driver for these kind of public and private initiatives.

As for RFID, I think you'll see the same thoughtful, proactive handling of this sensitive issue that we did with the Internet.

So, as you can see, my opinions don't come from under a rock - rather, they represent an insider's pragmatic and proactive view.
