Google's a big lawbreaker, it SEEMS, or ...
...maybe they're being picked on because too many people got wise to the machinations of the DoJ on behalf of Bush's friends to drive down it's value so they could buy in cheaper, or maybe even control it. What? "But they couldn't do that..." you say? Well, let's review.
The Bush admin, at a time when the FBI has all of about 50 people dedicated to fighting online child exploitation, decides it wants Google's search records. Right - baloney.
Google doesn't comply and it's stock dips, because investors are supposedly "jittery" that it failed to comply with a ridiculous government demand.
A few weeks later the chief of Bell says "You've got these companies like Yahoo and Google making millions, and they're using my pipes for free...and it's ridiculous". He says they're going to start charging content providers based on the profits they're making.
Now someone's accusing them of improperly allowing anyone to access genetic information, when it's known that the research findings of the genome project were BOUGHT by a government connected shady character several years back? None of this sounds right to me. Google isn't the one doing the lawbreaking either.
