let the buyer beware? as long as users don't mind using search engines that
give results based on the sale of keywords, there will always be the possibility of misuse. i usually just ignore the supported matches and just go the the real search results. but then i almost never use google or yahoo search so i don't know how they differentiate whether a link is bought or a real search result. i'd say as long as google clearly marks a link as a bought keyword and the offending competitor is made to clearly admit the subterfuge in the top of the linked web page or the link on google's results page, let the buyer beware and the offended person suck it up and get on with life.

happy
