Arid Northern Province to Expand Cloud Seeding for More Water
The moisture in the air may help north China's Shanxi province relieve its acute water shortage, experts said.

A group of scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences concluded after recently doing research in the province that exploiting water resources in the air can be a sustainable way to solve water scarcity in north China.

Based on advice of the scientists, the provincial government has made a six-year plan to develop weather modification technologies, mainly seeding clouds to increase precipitation. The province will strive increase its annual rainfall by 2 to 3 billion cu m a year.
Having graduated from Rice University in 1962 and having worked on cloud seeding operations for a few years,I find that the perspective of Chinese scientists is to make science useful to serve peoples interests since service to fellowmen is service to GOD.But US scientists and Universities are more interested in searching for a needle in a hay-stack and thereby wasting lot of precious time in evaluating the scientific basis and efficiencies of cloud seeding operations without realising that there are too many variables that influence the outcome of a cloud seeding operation based upon local weather systems, climatological and topographical features and the timing of undertaking the operations including the cloud characteristics, the nature of expertise of scientists involved to guide the work and chemical dosages used at the point of seeding.According to the following website,Chinese proved it a success and do US experts want to repeat the same work to disprove something which has already been proven? The proof of the pudding is in the eating and let us not waste precious time in debating marginal issues while the interests of society are at stake and there is no accountability among scientists to use cloud seeding to tame the hurricanes and Rich Universities opt to work in public interest to tame the Hurricanes that are playing with the lives and economies of not only nited states but also all other countries that depend upon US Economy. For creating more awareness among the intelligent US citizens to promote cloudm seeding to fight the droughts andGlobal warming impacts including hurricanes, please read the freely available literature in the following websites:

Shanxi is among one of the most arid provinces in China, with about 4 million people and nearly 1 million head of livestock being affected every year. Dry weather also leads reduced grain harvest, local officials said.
