my first thought was not "Carly is a woman"
.. it was "oh no, a marketing dufus heading up an engneering company". Gender irrelevent. HP was built by engineers with engineers. Putting marketing in charge (and that was Carly's background, wasn't it) was just wrong for the company. In my experience, marketing types (MBA's) always want to sell something other than what they have. I guess Carly wanted to switch from mainly selling high margin specialty equipment and some cameras and computers to mainly selling low-margin desktop computers. Hmm - brilliant plan....
