It's not discrimination, it's reality
I've been in the IT industry for nearly 20 years. I've met fewer than 20 female programmers or technicians. I've met many female business analysts but business analysts are generally technical heavyweights so they wouldn't get promoted in the IT infrastructure.

According to your statistics only 10 to 20 percent of IT personal are female. And most people drop out of IT (read career change) before they are 50. So it's no surprise to me that there are so few women in upper management. In the vast majority of cases it's not discrimination.

But the idea that women should be given 'special consideration' is discrimination. and in my less than humble opinion, insulting to women, since it implies that they can't move up any other way.
