Witch hunt

Either this is such a farce, or someone messed up the facts in this. IAC tried to undelete files to find incriminating evidence against a former employee. They didn't find any, so they use the lack of evidence as the incriminating evidence. I'm sure they'd find something to sue him over even if he didn't delete anything and became a farmer with a farm within 150 miles of an airport. It almost sounds frivolous.

Another thing to point out besides IAC's lack of requiring backups is the company's complete lack of security. While the article mentioned OSX's secure trash bin, it never mentioned what the employee actually used for a laptop and OS. It could very well have been Windows or Linux distro. No matter what OS it was, IAC should have locked down the OS so that the employee didn't have the permission to install software that wasn't there when the laptop was given to him. If he needed something that wasn't there, he would have to go through the requsition chain and have IAC's IT guy install it like any other company. While he may be guilty of wiping the data, the fact that he was able to do it because of a lax IT policy should be given some consideration.
