You'd be surprised how much a veteran will wilfully hold back an industry..
... If it means she can freewheel her way to her early retirement without having to learn anything new happy. Why hasten in the future, if you're not going to be part of it? People don't need to have someone else paying their wages, in order for them to have a vested interest in holding back progress.
