QoS and multicast
For the internet to keep working, we need two things:
-Quality of Service packet tagging: if the network knows which packets are most important (VoIP and streaming media) which are of middle importance (email and web) and which are least important (p2p) then it can cope with a very heavy load without slowing.
-Multicasting: as streaming media become more common multicasting will increasingly save on network load.
IPv6 implements both of these. We need to get on with a transition.
