Dig out the candles.
Seriously, theses generator in most cases are an addition to utility power. If it drops my usage from PECO by 30%, that's still a savings, and still better for the enviroment, pollution wise.

Now cleaning up the diced-upped remnants of a few bats and birds may offset any enviromental gains...
