then why do they need a warrant to get access to the phone numbers you have called? That is on OTHER PEOPLE's equipment. Why do they need a warrant to tap your phone? That is on OTHER PEOPLE's equipment. Your cell phone conversation is broadcast everywhere, why is it illegal for me to pick it up on a scanner?

I should be able to expect reasonable privacy for services I pay for. The only way someone can get access to my internet traffic is if they are part of the Internet backbone. It is not out there for all to view. It is there for only a select few companies. And even then, the traffic is not broadcast over the world willy-nilly.

And yes, I do agree that if I want better privacy, I would encrypt my email.
