Well, you might was well say you're an AMD bigot. Why hide it? In any case, Jobs is a brilliant marketeer, technologist and in touch with the consumer - a tremondously valuable combination. He is not an idiot and will lead the PC industry to participate in the much bigger consumer electronics and entertainment industry. This is good for you and good for me.

A brilliant marketeer. Yes. He does have the charisma to get otherwise more or less normal people to go ga-ga over his hardware.

As far as him being a brilliant technologist goes... I'm sorry. But the numbers don't lie. The benchmarks are in, and AMD is king of the heap. AMD's Athlon 64 X2 chips have eaten Intel's core duo for lunch - all while consuming LESS power AND using slower DDR1 (400 mhz) memory. When AMD boards start popping up with DDR2 RAM (800 mhz RAM), look out. It'll be a bit too embarassing to publish those results. Core Duo will look more and more like road kill on a highway outside of Phoenix AZ in the summer!

The ONLY advantage Intel has over AMD is production facilities. Intel has more fabs. Period. AMD is still catching up in that department.

But.. I digress... As far as Jobs goes, he's just a human who's made a HUGE tactical error by sinking his resources into the Intel camp. Intel MAY one day come up with something half way decent, but I won't hold my breath.

Apple, meanwhile has gone from the frying pan into the fire. They dumped their tried and true PPC platform for another that was supposed to have a GREAT supply and now they're in hot water as they can't get the chips they need to satisfy their demand.
