Dell Core Duos - when was the article written
I've been interested in getting a Core Duo laptop, so I've been trawling the web for the last few weeks. I know, from several sources, such as:
http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=129344&page=3

that Dell Core Duo latops have been built, shipped and received. The one mentioned in the forum above was received on 2006/01/24 - about 3 days before this article.

Given the number of threads I've read, I'd guess I've "seen" (i.e. read on forums) probably 20+ people who have recieved their Core Duo dells (known either as i9400 or e1705), across Europe, and USA. Obviously, that doesn't sound like many, but it is a very small sampling.

Certainly it doesn't match the "Dell don't have a Core Duo laptop" comment in the article.

I'm not above pointing out/noting that there been quite a lot of complaints about the bloatware on a dell, or the long shipping - certainly those imply that they may have relatively low stock levels, but they certainly are out there, and shipping. I would guess they were one of the earlier shippers, given the (very) un-scienifitc researching I've done.

Having read a few of the comments, I'm a bit surprised about the "Dell are a 20th centuary pc maker" comment. They seem to be the only large PC maker that has the savvy to try into the hi-margin computer gamer/enthuisiast market (with their XPS line). Others don't seem to be going after that market, leaving it more niche companies like Alienware, Falcon, Sager etc. etc.

Anyways, thats my 2cents worth
