A national minimum wage

Anything would be an improvement to the current situation. We have to remember though that with China we are not competing against a market economy. The communist government controls everything from the cost of bus fare, to the cost of food and rent. So if the government there sets the cost of bus fare at a penny, the cost of a pound of rice at 5 cents and the cost of renting an apartment with utilities included at $30 a month, then those 30 cent an hour wages might not seem so bad. (nor would a 30 cent an hour minimum wage) The bad part for us being of course the fact that it gives them an artifically created enormous competitive advantage in anything that they care to compete with us in.

And what they aren't going to be buying are American products like Microsoft Windows at $200 a pop. Not that we even make that many products anymore. Look next time you happen to go to a K-Mart, Wal-Mart, J.C. Pennys or any other retail outlet and see for yourself how many products are American made, even those that are American branded. My guess is you'll find fewer than 10 products in the whole store that are actually made in America.
