- The point is the info sought is pointless
-
"They don't care what people are searching for. What they care about is what people are finding in search results. Personal identification is besides the point because they're not interested in what people are searching for. The point of the subpoena is to show that "innocent" searches frequently turn up "bad" sites."
And there is no way to tell whether it was an adult or an underage child actually searching for porn or if porn turned up accidently during a search for other material. Because without the FBI obtaining your name and address and coming to your home to interview you there is no way to determine who was on the computer or what their intentions were.
It's just a fishing expedition, pure and simple. The intent of course being to destroy the porn industry through a backdoor because the government knows it can't just pass a law banning porn because it would violate the first amendment. But by passing a law that requires all individuals to register and obtain a number to be able to view adult sites they know that A: They will have a database of "known pervs" that the religious right will consider legitimate persons to discriminate against and persecute thereby destroying the porn industry or B: they figure that there will be too many adults that will be too embarrassed to register or fear the database will fall into the wrong hands or be abused thereby killing the porn industry.
If the real goal is to keep people from being accidently exposed to porn I have already offered a solution to that problem many times. Just move adult content sites into their own domain IE .sex or .xxx. That way there is no way for anyone to innocently type in a search and accidently get a porn site. Plus it is easy for individuals who want to be protected or protect their children from porn to be able to block a single domain with either a hardware or software blocker.
What really needs to be stopped are all of the knuckledragging boneheaded idiots in this country that keep trying subvert the Constitution in an effort to subject everyone to their morals and beliefs because they believe what they want is best for everybody. Even though they can't get enough support to amend the Constitution to achieve any of their goals.
Clinton tried to do the same thing with the second amendment by trying to use federal funds to sue the gun manufacturers out of business.
And Bush, he just ignores the law and claims the right to violate it because he's Kin- er president. - Posted by: Looneytoon Posted on: 01/27/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
