Seems to be some confusion here.
In the interest of clarity:

OS, I'll disagree with your statement about most soldiers not even mentioning their service. On the contrary, most of those I have served with took that oath seriously, are proud of the their service, and will draw on their experiences back here in the 'real' world, including commenting on their serice when appropriate.

I assumed (yes, I know...my mistake) that we were using the battlefiled as a metaphor, and I wanted to point out the difference in the results of 'stand and be counted' valor vs 'be discrete and survive to win' tactics. If at some point you took something I said as an insult or an attempt to discredit your person, you have my apologies as that was not my intent. At no point in this discussion have I felt the need to insult anyone.
However, I stand by the analogy and its underlying rationale. Your assertion seems to be that there is no place for anonymous speech, no need for it, and no justification for disguise. you go so far as to insult those who disagree, calling them wimps, and insinuating that they are cowards.
The realities of life have taught me otherwise. While it does indeed take courage to say an unpopular thing when everyone knows it was you who said it, it is a very true statement that depending on the circumstance, you may get only one chance to exercise that courage. As for me, when I choose to 'fall on my sword' for what I believe in, it will DAMN sure be for something important, and I will have to know that my 'death' will have a measurable impact.

This will be my last post on the subject.
