DRM is protecting Apple's Market Share
it sure would be easier to innovate and sell electronics without having to cripple them to make the rights holders happy.

In a vaccuum, it would be interesting to see Jobs' position ... after all, they're charging a buck a download (or so). DRM is helping him out, even if it wasn't demanded by the content providers.

Given the proprietary nature of the format, eventually people will have a music library lock-in to Apple. Do you buy a different device and repurchase all your music or do you replace your iPod with another Apple product?

DRM is protecting Apple's market share.
