Perhaps we need horrible awful laws
Given the complete ignorance of the general public towards such
matters, perhaps we need the RIAA/MPAA to keep pushing
towards such extreme and ill-thought out measures. As the
article points out, no reform is going to happen until significant
problems are created for Joe Average. So maybe these unfair
and absurdly restrictive types of legislation will finally tip the
balance.

The other factor is, of course, the side of the electronics
manufacturers. Their business is about 10X the size of the
content industry, and if the ****** bill passes, they'll essentially
be crippled and prevented from ever introducing any new
product.

Also of note, the whole ****** bill is based upon a secret
technology, one which the public and Congress aren't allowed to
examine or understand as they evaluate the law. No one has any
idea how much implementing this secret VEIL technology is
going to cost and how much it will add to the price of
electronics:
