They should reach a settlement
I think that these two companies should do their damnest to reach a settlement, and that the judge should NOT issue a ruling cutting off people who use the Blackberry device.
That is punishing the consumer for the wrongs of the company. He should issue a ruling saying that all service should be turned over to the company suing, unless they reach a settlement.
Also, we HAVE to reform the patent system. One thing might be to say "No more patents, ever, on technology related things". I.E. no more patents on chip designs, no more patents on code, no more patents on the design of computers.
That would solve the problem immediately. To those who say "Then business wouldn't have any reason to innovate", bull!
Most of the innovation now is taking place in the GPL fields, and big business just rips off the innovations of the GPL makers.
