How much a NGO can influence an issue. It doesn't take that much money either- especially at the local and state level. Especially with elections running as close as they do nowdays.

I am well aware of how lobyist work, very very aware.

Actually voter turnout of late has seen historical records, which is why you hear about lines to cast votes on election day- some people waited in line 10+ hours just to cast their vote. Most people are somewhat aware of who and what they are voting for- you'd be shocked if you really went around and asked. Your comment may have been true 10 years ago but is no longer true today, at least in regards to the Federal elections.

And Bush took Ohio not becuase of what the voters saw on TV but rather what the Pastor said in church- The GOP's new campaigning buddy... and the biggest issue was scaremongering over marriage rights (Whom can and can't get married).
