The US Congress Voted Otherwise
The RIAA lobied congress and got congress to pass a bill, and president Bush Sr. signed it no less, so that in exchange for a royalty on each recorder and a royalty on each Digital media (Audio CD);

1. I would not be liable for Infringement for making non-commercial consumer copies

2. the maker of the recorder would not be liable

3. I can purchase the recorder.

4. It would be legal for them to make, inmport, and sell me the recorder.

In effect they want to renage on this but keep the royalty.

Oh and the Artist producing the work for free- I agree the record contracts are a rip off for the Artist http://www.zdnetasia.com/news/hardware/0,39042972,39139020,00.htm
The labels should be ashamed.

Your post is exactly what is wrong with the RIAA and its shi... supporters. You completely disregard what the law says and want to enforce whatever terms they/you feellike on the consumer- regardless of what the law says. That my freind is both dishonest and is stealing from the consumer.
