Software start-ups feel the pinch

I agree completely...

The real opportunities lay in "ease of use". Face it, the reason half of US homes don't have a PC is they see no need and if they do they are convinced it's too hard. (Keep in mind how many VCRs never had the clock set.)

When developers really start looking at making useful software that is easy to use by people with NO TRAINING then you will see the market explode. First step, get rif of the keyboard!!! I can't tell you how many people have told me they don't use a computer becasue they can't type.

Sure the geeks make fun of them and say everyone should be able to type, and the people they say it to simply shrug and not buy anything. Pull your head out developers and build apps for human beings, not for the PC.

By the way, the same can be said for most small businesses. I make a living working in other companies and everyday I see tasks being done that could and should be automated. The reason is always, "I don't have time or desire to learn the software or how to use it". Followed by, "why can't software just do it the way I do it and want it done"?

Yes, the opportunies are there. But it isn't a one sale = a million bucks opportunity...
