Why do people keep thinking software is different?
Nothing new here at all, every industry goes through this same process of consolidation and the removal of the small players. (Look at how many car makers there were 100 years ago.)

Can these small players survive by becoming a service company? Yes, a small percentage may, but no the vast majority will not. Time has proven this over and over.
