Google's premise?
"It's been our inclination all along that (Google) won't split their stock," Peck said. "The counter argument is that if you can make the stock cheaper it is cheaper for the common man, and Google's premise is to help the common man."

Bah! Google's premise is to make its execs and stockholders rich, at the expense of those caught when the ginormous bubble breaks.

A stock split is absolutely worthless, since the P/E ration still remains the same - and is dangerously high. Google is a high-risk investment, since it is not at all clear that the current market cap is justified.

The only thing the split would do is lure in additional investors to become new fall guys when the sell off begins. Notice the attention drawn to the 35% internal holding of GOOG? As soon as those people are allowed, they'll start selling.

Buyer beware - both before or after a split.
