You prefer Sony's DRM?
Apple's DRM is fairly simple - you can burn 3 CDs of the same
playlist. If you buy an album you can burn your primary copy as
a backup, a second copy for the office and a third for the car.
Want more? Change the playlist - maybe a range of songs off
different CDs from the same band. You get 3 more CDs to burn.
It's not too bad when you consider that most of the time you'll
burn a copy of a "traditional" CD for use in the car to avoid
scratches on the original.

The fact is that Apple came up with something that the record
companies AND consumers could live with. Personally I prefer to
buy in a store. I spend a lot of time looking at the cheap CDs as
often times there is something interesting to try. The iTunes
Store gives you a chance to look for something that isn't
available anymore, or to get the odd song you want. For the
average user it's just a convenience.

Don't worry about the iPod Generation (which ranges in age from
4 to 61 in our family). The only way it got to where it is today is
by having consumers selecting it over the mass of alternatives
that are available on the market.
